The Clansman Centre

Visit the 17th Century Highlands of Scotland

Entering through the doors of a 19th century schoolhouse, you will take a step back in time to the 17th century. Besides a shop, which specialises in Celtic and locally produced crafts and gifts, we have recreated the interior of a Highland turf house, where an authentically dressed clansman brings the past back to life.

Read more about our entertaining, interactive and informative experience in the “Show” page.  We also offer the screening of a short film on the Clansman.  Sit within re-created turf house theatre, relax and enjoy.  To guarantee a screening, please book in advance.

A range of fantastic gifts and souvenirs are available to purchase in our quirky craft/gift shop.  The majority of which are made in Scotland.

Will be open from 01st March to mid December 2025

11.00am – 4pm Monday – Sunday although times can vary.

“I would recommend the Clansman Centre for a visit. Was there in just over an hour and within the hour learned so much about the clansman way of life. One of the highlights was seeing how the kilt was worn. The time just flew by.”

“Took in a show here as part of a Highlands tour and really enjoyed it. It was a one-man show showcasing kilts and weapons. I don’t remember the gentleman’s name but he was very funny, informative and engaging. I had no idea kilts were such a complicated garment and the weapons of the time could cause so much destruction!”
