Visiting the Loch Ness Area

With spectacular mountains, tumbling waters and the vastness of the great outdoors, the Highlands of Scotland has become a playground for outdoor pursuits.

Visitors have been coming to the area for decades to enjoy climbing, walking, cycling, water sports and of course the search for the elusive "Nessie". But apart from these “traditional” outdoor activities, the area offers a lot more that is new and most definitely exciting!  Be prepared to get wet…and maybe just a little bit scared!

Fort Augustus itself offers a range of eating establishments, hotels and self catering accommodation.  In about an hours drive you can reach Inverness or Fort William as well as the bridge over to the Isle of Skye - a beautiful drive through stunning scenery. Inverness Airport, approximately 7 miles east of Inverness offers regular flights to the south, the Scottish Islands as well as Amsterdam.

Trains from Inverness will take you south as well as north and west. For those interested in history the Highlands is steeped with it.  There are many amazing castles to visit as well as the renowned Fort George, just east of Inverness.

The city of Inverness has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and hotels as well as a museum, theatre, cinema, kart racing, golf courses and swimming pool to name but a few.
