Description
This trinity knot motif has several meanings which are both Christian and non-Christian. In the Christian tradition the three interlacing strands represent the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They can also be said to symbolise the natural forces of Earth, Air and Water or, on a more spiritual level, Life, Death and Rebirth. Seven different woods are used to make these Celtic designs.
This carving is made by a process known as Intarsia, which is the ancient art of making pictorial mosaics by laying precious and exotic woods onto a solid wood surface. Seven different woods are used to make these Celtic designs.
